This piece started out as 1. a cheap round table top with no legs and 2. a old rusty kerosene heater that was really in bad shape. I attached to top to the heater and made a side table. I painted the top and hand painted the design as well. I love the rusty industrial chic mixed with the shabby Paris theme. It took me over a year to get the inspiration for this little table, I tried and tried and then one day there it was in my head plain as day. That's how things work for me. I get to an impasse and have to walk away for a bit most of the time it isn't a whole year!

My Projects from Last Week
This week I painted up a storm as usual. I painted this little rocker off white and stenciled the saying on to its back.
Next I painted this handmade little book rack and mounted a rusty vintage wire basket on the top to hold flowers or magazines, a catch-all for just about anything. I loved the rack, I bought it at a flea market last month because it had so much character. I love it on top of the book rack.

D-R-E-A-M
I had this wonderful old window frame with raggedy screen and decided this would be the week to doll it up. I made the dream banner out of a grocery bag, some stencils, and paint. Then I hot glued them to a piece of twine. Lucky me the 2 knob were already there, probably used for taking the screen out of the window at the end of the season. For you young ones there was a day when the window screens were taken out at the end of summer and re-installed in the spring. Can you imagine? They had to be painted every so often and then stored. This little cutie has seen a lot of use and I am furthering her life by making her into art. I attached the vintage wire basket with some metal strap and screws and put screw eyes in each side to hold wire so I could hang the old pictures from it. I love this piece and don't want to sell it but I do this for income so good bye little wonderful window you will be in my dreams for ever! LOL too much? naw

Make Do or Do Without
I was repairing an old farm chair the other day. It had a big crack in the middle of the seat. As I was working on it I accidentally broke off one of the legs. I could see that this piece was never going to be strong enough to sit in and use as a regular chair even if I glued it up. So I set it aside and started to work on my next project. Then it hit me.............I had this old metal milk crate that no one seemed to want and it was just sitting there waiting for some love and I had this rickety broken chair needing legs.It was so obvious at that point my hands were shaking with delight. I strapped the chair onto the milk crate and there you have it! I am totally in love with the out come, the unconventional is aways my favorite!
I really don't intend for someone to sit in this chair but it would be wonderful with flowers or an accent in the crate area.

Foot Stool Makeover
I went to a church sale a few weeks ago and found this interesting stool for 2.00. I walked around the room several times thinking about buying it but wasn't sure. I don't know why I ever doubt myself because once I get something home I always thing of something to do with it. I don't mean to brag but that is just the way I am. My mind sees things continually, other people see junk I see a fun project.
You can see the bottom and it even had casters!
As you can see this footstool was very different. It has a 4 inch foam seat on it covered in tapestry. The height was way to high to use to rest your feet on comfortably and to unstable to use for a coffee table. It took me an hour to strip off the fabric and foam but I was really excited because after I did the stool looked like an industrial chic piece. I decided to leave the bottom stained and paint the top and stencil it.
Now it is suitable to use as a footstool or a little catch all table.
