French Country Assessory Accents

This is a magazine tote that I found in the dumpster.  It was covered in magazine pictures that were falling off.  It was in desperate need of some love.  I stripped off the paper and painted the tote blue then hand painted the bird.  I like the new look it has much more appeal than before.

 

This is an old birdhouse that I rescued from the trash. It had a rubber roof which I replaced with a wooden one. I repainted it white and stained it to look old.

This is a very simple corner shelf that I bought. It was a light wood color before I decided to make it a two toned French Country piece.

This is an old window my husband brought home to me. I bought some printed burlap from Hobby Lobby for 5.99 a yard and made it into a memo board.  I took some regular push pins and glues some black crystals to the top of them to bling them up.

This is a sweet little stool that I bought and painted.  I love the French Country look!

 

Old Scale

I had this old rusty worn scale and tried to sell it as it was because I thought it was awesome. But alas no one was interested in it as it was.  My policy is to try to leave things as they are unless no one wants to claim them then I step in and give them a second chance to be loved.

I merely mounted a metal dish to the top of the scale that I painted black so that it would stand out and accent the rusty goodness of the scale. I was perfectly happy with the rust and I thought that the bowl would give it a utilitarian purpose and would be a super decorator piece.

You can see that I found many uses for the rusty old scale and am so pleased that it now has a purpose!

D-R-E-A-M

I had this wonderful old window frame with raggedy screen and decided this would be the week to doll it up.  I made the dream banner out of a grocery bag, some stencils, and paint.  Then I hot glued them to a piece of twine.  Lucky me the 2 knob were already there, probably used for taking the screen out of the window at the end of the season.  For you young ones there was a day when the window screens were taken out at the end of summer and re-installed in the spring. Can you imagine?  They had to be painted every so often and then stored.  This little cutie has seen a lot of use and I am furthering her life by making her into art. I attached the vintage wire basket with some metal strap and screws and put screw eyes in each side to hold wire so I could hang the old pictures from it.  I love this piece and don't want to sell it but I do this for income so good bye little wonderful window you will be in my dreams for ever! LOL too much? naw

Vintage Skates

I remember spending a lot of time in the summer roller skating down the sidewalks in Grand Rapids.  I wore my skate key around my neck on an old shoe string, those were the days!  We didn't have fancy things to play with but what we did have was awesome !!!!!  So I took some old skates that I just couldn't seem to sell and decided to give them some "Bling"!  I painted them pink and then took some Modge Podge and glitter and Girlied them up!   Sparkle makes everything better don't you agree?

Love Birds

I actually took before pictures of this !!!!!!!!!!! I am so proud of myself.  This was an old television cupboard from the 70's I bought for 5.00 from a thrift store.  I immediately fell in love with it because of the shutter doors. The back was all broken out where they removed the TV  but it didn't matter to me all I could  see was new colors and birds and a pretty new paint job!

I wish I could find ten more of these !

Just Some Stuff

These are just some items I worked on this week. I basically repainted, re glued, and remade them to take to the shop and fill my booth with. 


Pink shabby basket with flourish, coffee grinder, and angel picture I placed in an antique frame.

Two containers painted given a shabby paint job, worn angel holy water container in a vintage frame, and old box with bronzed baby shoes I painted shabby white.  The cool letters that spell out the word "love" are from a vintage set I acquired for 5.00!

Two wooden bowls I put on stands and painted.  The bowl on the left is filled with old pool table balls.

Large metal spoon and fork I repainted, will look nice on some one's wall!

Nice accent piece I painted shabby white and sliver with a dark umber glaze.

Frame on with metal legs I painted and added some scarp art I made up.  Glass plate with Modge Podge designs of Paris.  Also two mini cloches with vintage looking graphics Modge Podged to the bottom! Love those little guys to pieces!

This old window has rusty wire fencing tacked to it. You could use clothes pins to hang pictures or ephemera. So many possibilities!

                           Over all it was a great week can't wait to see what next week brings!
